Anfu Shixin Festival is a traditional festival that is passed down in four townships in Nanxiang, Anfu County, including Pianzhou Lake, Jintian, Yangmen, and Ganluo. Choose a new date between "Xiaoshu" and "Dashu", the day before the harvest of ripe rice. This is different from the fixed eating habits of ethnic minorities, such as June 6th or August 15th.

The Chinese nation had a new custom of eating as early as the Zhou Dynasty. Anfu cuisine has been popular since ancient times and has spread throughout the four townships since the Song Dynasty. It was extremely popular during the Ming and Qing dynasties.

There are various magical legends circulating among the people of Anfu during the New Food Festival. As "Flower Dog Thieves Valley" said, a long time ago, there was a big flower dog who went to heaven to steal rice seeds and saved the ancestors in the chaos of heaven and earth. The "Five Grains God Eliminates Demons" said: Once upon a time, a white mist spirit came up from Wugong Mountain. Every year before the summer harvest, it spewed white mist at its mouth, destroying all the rice that farmers were about to harvest. It was the Five Grains God who cast a spell to eliminate demons and save the people. So, during the season when the cucumbers are ripe, people hold grand banquets, inviting big dogs or the Five Grains God to try new things as a gesture of gratitude. At the same time, altars are set up to worship, performing dragon lanterns, torches, wandering the fields, singing mountain songs, picking new grains, making rice dumplings, steaming flour and meat, inviting family and friends to come and drink and have a meal to try new things, and so on. The excitement and revelry continued until late at night, and the next morning, people went down to the fields and swung their sickles to harvest, beginning the hardest and most enjoyable labor of the year.

In May 2008, the Anfu New Food Festival was selected as the second batch of provincial-level intangible cultural heritage protection list in Jiangxi Province.
