The Benjue Temple Pagoda was first built during the Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty and has a history of over 1300 years. The tower is 26 meters high, with eight sides and nine floors, and one to three floors are hollow. There are spiral steps to climb up, and the top of the tower is a large black glazed porcelain gourd. This tower was listed as a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit in 1957 and included in the "Dictionary of Chinese Scenic Spots". In 1984, when the Jiangxi Provincial People's Government funded the renovation of this ancient tower, several copper coins engraved with the Kaiyuan Tongbao and a bottle of Northern Song Dynasty pure embryo lotus seats were found at the top of the tower. The seats are now preserved in the Jizhou Kiln Museum. According to the Dongchang Annals, there was originally a Benjue Temple to the north of the tower, named after the temple. However, due to the war, Benjue Temple was destroyed, leaving only this ancient tower.

There is a magical story about this tower. Legend has it that this is a "Feilai Pagoda". Originally located in Xichang (Taihe), the county town later moved northward, and the old city of Xichang gradually became deserted. This pagoda has nothing to do and participates in meditation and cultivation. After a long period of time and absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, it unexpectedly grows a pair of huge wings. Every night when thunderstorms hit, it spreads its wings and flies high. One night, it took advantage of the thunderstorm and took off to enjoy the bustling city life in the new county town. That night, it flew to the Erwang Temple in Baisha Village, Yonghe Town, on the banks of the Gan River. It thought this was the new county town, but the next day, it realized that it was just a bustling Gan River wharf, so it wanted to fly away from here. On another stormy night, the pagoda flapped its wings and flew again. Unexpectedly, as soon as it took off, it flew less than a few miles away. Suddenly, a bright and bustling destination was discovered. Within a radius of dozens of miles, the lights were shining brightly, even more dazzling than the stars in the sky. It thought this was the new county town, so it chose the place with the brightest lights and landed next to the Benjue Temple. The next morning, the monks of Benjue Temple discovered a magnificent nine story pagoda towering out of thin air next to the temple. They were all overjoyed and knelt in front of the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva to express gratitude and gratitude. Guanyin Master pinched his fingers and calculated that this tower was not willing to stay here for a long time, and this place really needed such a tower to intimidate the whole place. So he cast a spell and cut off a pair of wings of the pagoda, then exerted his magic and transformed nine thousand pound iron chains, trapping the top of the pagoda and firmly locking it in place. From then on, this pagoda remained permanently next to the Benjue Temple in Yonghe Town.
